Accreditation Support
|
I was proud to be the Lead for USF QEP, which received an exemplary rating from the on-site SACSCOC Accreditation Committee in January 2025. This report has since been added to the SACSCOC resource library for the Annual Meeting. Just two months later, I had the honor of serving as the QEP Lead Evaluator during the SACSCOC site visit at the University of the Americas–Puebla.

University-wide Initiatives Providing career development to over 50,000 USF students necessitates scalability and innovation. By co-leading the University's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), focused on the career readiness of all undergraduate students through experiential learning opportunities, I have the support of leadership and the platform to make a meaningful impact on all USF students. This has required collaboration between many units and faculty across USF, socializing the topic to get buy-in, and implementing new systems to deliver content and assess progress.

Employer Development
|
Our team hosts up to 100 employer recruiters from the Tampa Bay area each summer to discuss recruiting trends, hear a student panel, and learn more about recruiting USF students. This wonderful event allows us to showcase the many things USF and our students have to offer, while providing professional development for our community partners.

Using data obtained from a mandatory first-destination survey and the Campus Engagement and Experiences Survey, along with demographic information, at a large southeastern public university for graduates in December 2019 (just before COVID-19) and December 2020 (during COVID-19), this study explored the relationships between high-impact practices and mandatory career courses with first-destination outcomes. Significantly more graduates from the December 2019 cohort participated in one or more high-impact practices. The greatest differences were seen with the decrease in internship, co-ops, and study abroad experiences among the mid-pandemic cohort. Completion of co-ops, internships, undergraduate research, and working while enrolled at the university had significant relationships with positive first-destination outcomes in both cohorts. Mandatory career courses were shown to only add significant value above and beyond high-impact practices for those in the 2020 cohort admitted to continuing education programs.

Partnerships:
Boston University Professional Clothing Closet
Auburn University Campus Career Closet
In In an initiative started by Tima Dasouki, a first-generation BU student, the Professional Clothing Closet was launched in March 2022 as a collaboration between the Center for Career Development and the Newbury Center. This included a campus wide donation drive, identifying a location, and creating set policies and procedures for use and inventory. The PCC resource will be available to all students and appointments will be made in Handshake. In the news: March 2022 |
In an effort to respond to the needs of students and make opportunities more equitable, the University Career Center collaborated with Auburn Cares and the SGA to create the Campus Career Closet. This program provides free professional attire to Auburn students to be used for career fairs, interviews, or any other professional event needed. I spearheaded this program and created a variety of campus and community partners together to make it a reality in only 2 short months.

Digital Content and Response to PandemicDuring the 2020 pandemic, the University Career Center transitioned virtual meetings and began efforts to increase digital content in an effort to reach more students. I led the career counselors in setting policies, processes, artwork, and added to content quickly and with great success. This included creating new web series, adding a virtual career center, advertising to faculty and students, and recording content on many topics.
In addition to making programs and meetings more accessible to students at this time, methods of training new staff also shifted online. Our typical training week was shifted into a training course on Canvas full of videos, written resources, and assignments and has been used to onboard a new counselor, graduate assistants, and peer career advisors (undergraduate students) with great success. |

Career Success for Honors College
This one-credit-hour course for students in the Honors College was developed. Career Success for Juniors and Seniors (Distance Ed and On Campus) Spring 2014, we offered our first online/distance education course. This 2-credit-hour class is traditionally taught on campus, but has been adapted to be taught using Canvas and a variety of ways of presenting the material. Students in this class not only learn about the job search, but also about graduate school application processes and important information about transitioning to life after college. Exploring Majors Learning Community I taught one of four sections of Learning Community UNIV 1150: Your Major, Your Career courses each fall. In this 2-credit-hour course, students learn how to make an informed major and career decision while learning more about the university experience. |
Teaching and Course DevelopmentIn addition to the services offered to students, our team also teaches a variety of courses to help students.
Career Navigator Series This base level of this scaled program is required of all students in their first year of the university. The additional levels are part of the ExCeL program and tailored to be embedded in existing courses of our approved programs. Job Search The CCPD team fully revamped this online course to deliver exceptional information in an interactive way while infusing center resources and AI. Cooperative Internships This 0-6 credit hour course allows all students to take advantage of internships and receive credit even if their program does not require the experience. Navigating Your Career Pathway |
AssessmentThe University Career Center is constantly working to improve the quality of our services and the experiences of our students. For this reason I work to assess the usage data for our services, learning outcomes, and student satisfaction. Data helps us tell our story and we use this information to market the office and for reporting purposes. In 2015, I bench-marked career center annual reports and worked with our marketing and communications coordinator to publish our first office annual report. Now 3 years in, we have a library of reports the show how we have improved over the years and an attractive document to give stakeholders.

Auburn Majors Fair
|
Launched in fall 2020, the Auburn Majors Fair created an interactive experience for students to browse the many majors available at Auburn and speak with representatives live via Zoom. I created the site with a zero dollar budget and solicited marketing materials from colleges directly. This event will be repeated in spring 2021.

First-Year Student OutreachYour Major: Career Exploration Workshop
Organize full-day and half-day workshops for first year or undecided students to learn more about the process of choosing a major/career. This workshop has been offered for the past 5 years and we continue to assess and make changes to increase effectiveness. The event includes assessment interpretations, career/major research resources, and the opportunity to speak with representatives from all colleges/school at Auburn to better understand majors offered. Information about this program was presented at the 2014 SoACE conference. |
PresentationsUniversity Career Center receives over 250 presentation requests per year from various classes, organizations, and student groups on campus in addition to the 99 sections of FYS courses. I work with our team coordinate the requests and speakers to ensure all requests are filled. In addition to coordinating and presenting, we have also created learning objectives for each presentation and assess them regularly to determine effectiveness.
